The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund has allocated more than $11 million to 179 charitable projects covering medical and health, rehabilitation, social welfare, education, community service and anti-drug causes.
The money allows 100 organisations to improve and extend their services to benefit the community.
Major grants include:
* $1.02 million for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to acquire equipment for elderly and chronically-ill patients, and organise education camps for children with intellectual disabilities;
* $500,000 for the Samaritan Fund to help disadvantaged patients meet medical expenses;
* $482,000 for the Salvation Army to acquire equipment and organise programmes for children, youths and the elderly;
* $379,000 for the Po Leung Kuk to acquire equipment and organise programmes for children with intellectual disabilities;
* $320,000 for the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital to replace worn-out furniture and nursing equipment in its wards;
* $270,000 for the Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council to acquire medical and nursing equipment for the elderly; and,
* $262,000 for the Red Cross to acquire service equipment and organise activities.
Other fund recipients include the Society for the Protection of Children, St. John Ambulance, Heung Hoi Ching Kok Lin Association, the Hospital Authority, Mother's Choice, Operation Dawn, the Princess Margaret and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals, the Boys' Brigade, the Society for the Aged and Yan Chai Hospital.
