The Social Welfare Department will raise the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme allowance by 4.4% from August 1.

The move was approved by the Legislative Council Finance Committee June 6. It was made ahead of the normal annual adjustment cycle to ease inflationary pressure on recipients.
