Ovitrap index up 2.7%
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

People must stay alert to the risk of mosquito-transmitted diseases and take anti-mosquito measures as the monthly average ovitrap index for April rose to 2.9%, from 0.2% in March.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department said of the 38 areas surveyed last month, positive ovitrap indices ranging 1.7% to 9.1% were recorded in 24, the highest being Sham Shui Po East. As for port areas, the index also rose slightly from 0% in March to 0.2%.

Although the indices in April were relatively low preventive measures should not be relaxed as dengue cases are prevalent in Hong Kong's neighbouring areas.
