Sports survey to be conducted
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will conduct door-knock interviews in May and September to gauge Hong Kong people's participation in sport.

The survey will study the influence of living habits on participation in physical activities and review the popularity of the department's sports programmes and facilities. Data collected will help assess the effectiveness of the Sport for All policy and see the formulation of long-term strategies to encourage more people to engage in sport.

Consumer Search Hong Kong has been commissioned to conduct the first phase of the survey. Four-thousand households will be randomly sampled. Interviewers will carry identification with the department's stamp and the research company's name. Interviews will last about 20 minutes. The survey will be divided into three age groups - children (aged seven to 12), adolescents (aged 13 to 19) and adults (aged 20 or above).
