Welfare cases fall 0.1%

Social Welfare Department

There were 291,665 social security assistance cases in August, down 0.1% on the previous month, the Social Welfare Department says.

 

The number of jobless receiving comprehensive social security assistance fell 1% to 34,984 cases, while those in the low-earnings and single-parent groups both fell 0.3% to 17,672 and 37,949.

 

However, permanent disability cases rose 0.1% to 18,027.
