The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed an imported Dengue fever case involving a 32-year-old woman who toured Singapore and Australia from June 20 to 28.
The Sha Tin woman came down with fever and muscle pain on June 29 and was admitted to a private hospital. She was discharged two days later.
This is the 14th imported Dengue fever case this year. Last year saw 31 cases, all imported.
People should stay alert to the threat of Dengue fever and prevent mosquito breeding. Travellers should wear long-sleeved tops and trousers and use insect repellent. When rooms are not air-conditioned use mosquito screens or nets.
People feeling unwell after returning from their trip should seek medical advice as soon as possible and provide details of their travel to the doctor.
