Rafael Hui to visit Sichuan panda centre
*

Chief Secretary Rafael Hui will leave for Sichuan on March 8 to visit the China Conservation & Research Centre for the Giant Panda at Wolong National Nature Reserve.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Central Government will present a pair of giant pandas as a gift to Hong Kong. Ocean Park is renovating its existing facilities to prepare for their arrival.

Mr Hui, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Lam and Ocean Park representatives will visit the centre to learn more about the giant pandas and how the State Forestry Administration and the centre select the new giant pandas for Hong Kong.

Mr Hui will return to Hong Kong on March 10. Secretary for Housing, Planning & Lands Michael Suen will be acting Chief Secretary while Mr Hui is in Sichuan.
