Water safety ambassadors
Making waves: A water safety ambassador introduces pool facilities to primary school students.
*

Swimming pool staff from the Leisure & Cultural Services Department have started visiting schools to bolster students' awareness of water safety and pool hygiene.

The water safety ambassadors, comprising swimming pool supervisors and lifeguards, have arranged for primary school students to visit swimming pools to attend seminars on water safety and ways to keep pools clean.

This month's visits, including experience-sharing sessions with lifeguards, cover 11 schools. More than 200 primary school students participated in the visits in the past week.

Forty primary school students visited Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool yesterday, where water safety ambassadors explained the measures and importance of keeping pools clean.

Students also learned lifesaving skills during demonstrations. Those who pass the skills test will receive a Water Safety Award with a badge and certificate from the Life Saving Society.
