Walk for a greener Hong Kong!

*
Mount Parker Road Green Trail

Green goers: Hit the hiking trails on June 26 and 27 to support World Environment Day.

*

Want to show your support for World Environment Day?

Apart from recycling and reducing waste, you can also organise trail walks for family and friends on June 26 and 27 and enjoy the special environmental features of 22 green routes in the city.

After the success of last year's Green Trail Walks, the Environmental Campaign Committee has adopted the theme Walking for a Green & Healthy Hong Kong to get people committed to protecting the environment and getting in touch with nature.

Community groups, green groups, schools and organisations are welcome to run their own green trail walks throughout the city.

Just complete this application form and return it to the committee secretariat by June 18. Event stickers will be provided free for participants.

Green trail walk to start in Central

On June 27, the committee will kick off the main green trail walk at 9am starting from Statue Square and the Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in Central.

There will be booths on environmental and education activities, and other free programmes, in the area from 1.30pm.

The committee and Eastern District Environmental Advancement Association will also host shows and game booths promoting green living at Chater Garden on June 13.

Game booths, green products on display

The Waste Collecting & Recycling Environmental Protection Campaign Carnival will feature an array of environmental products.

On June 19, the committee and Conservancy Association will hold activities at Chater Garden to urge people to think wise and protect the environment.

With the theme "Think Wise! Rubbish can be Goods - Waste Reduction is more than Environmental Protection", the event will feature publicity on encouraging participants to bring their own shopping bags, workshops on how to turn rubbish into goods and paper recycling, game booths and exhibition on waste problems and management, as well as interactive talks.

Both events are free and will run from noon to 5pm.

The United Nations has designated June 5 as the World Environment Day to remind all nations to protect the environment and fight against pollution.
