Director of Intellectual Property Stephen Selby has welcomed Guangdong's move to allow Hong Kong-invested enterprises with domestic sales on the Mainland to apply for famous trademarks in the province.
Speaking at a press briefing after the ninth meeting of the Guangdong-Hong Kong Expert Group on Protection of Intellectual Property Rights today, Mr Selby said the move will enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong enterprises by raising their trademark value and building goodwill.
Other projects planned by the group for 2010-11 include seminars, training courses and exchange programmes for enterprises in both places, and organising intellectual property training activities for enforcement officials.
Guangdong and Hong Kong, in collaboration with the Economic Services of the Government of Macau, have completed the English version of a booklet on IP rights to inform foreigners of the IP laws and systems in the three jurisdictions.
