Electronic product exports value up 31.2%

In 2006, the value of domestic exports classified in the consumer electrical and electronic products industry rose 31.2% over a year earlier, to $23.3 billion, the Census & Statistics Department says.

 

The value of domestic exports classified in the machinery, equipment, apparatus, parts and components industry fell 24.3%, to $16.3 billion, while that in the apparel industry fell 7.8%, to $21.8 billion, and that in the textiles industry dropped 7.3%, to $34.6 billion.

 

The value of these four major industries together accounted for 72% of Hong Kong's total domestic exports.

 

As for other manufacturing industries, a notable increase was registered for the value of domestic exports classified to the basic metals and fabricated metal products industry, by 26% over a year earlier, to $6.5 billion, and that in the chemicals and chemical products industry by 14.3%, to $9.2 billion.
