October saw the volume of total goods exports rise 7.9% on the same month last year while that of total goods imports rose 8.4%, the Census & Statistics Department says. Hong Kong's goods re-exports rose 10.6%, while that of domestic exports fell 25.9%.
Comparing the first 10 months of 2006 with the same period last year, the volume of Hong Kong's goods re-exports grew 9.4%, while that of domestic exports rose 10.2%. Taken together, the volume of total exports of goods grew 9.5%. Concurrently, the volume of imports of goods rose 9.4%.
Comparing October this year and last year, the price of re-exports of goods rose 1.7%, while those of domestic exports fell 1%. Taken together, the prices of total exports of goods rose 1.6%. Concurrently, the prices of imports of goods grew 3%.
On price changes in the first 10 months of 2006 over the same period last year, the prices of re-exports of goods rose 0.9%, while those of domestic exports dropped 2.4%. Taken together, the prices of total exports of goods rose 0.7%. Concurrently, the prices of imports of goods rose 2%.
