The Construction Industry Council will make minimal changes which are essential for its amalgamation with the Construction Industry Training Authority, to ensure the merger will not adversely affect the two bodies' services.
According to a paper the Development Bureau submitted to the Legislative Council, the changes to be introduced include revising signs, updating the computer systems so that levy invoices will be issued under the Council's authorit, taking over of accounts, and changing letterheads and other stationery.
The bureau said the amalgamation will have no adverse impact on the authority's staff. They will become council staff and continue to be employed on the same terms and conditions.
No major organisational changes or staff retrenchment will arise from budgetary reasons after the Construction Industry Council Ordinance is enacted.
To implement the amalgamation on January 1, the bureau will publish in the gazette in October a commencement notice to bring into operation the ordinance provisions which are not yet in effect, including the authority's dissolution, transfer of its assets and liabilities to the council, having the council collect the industry levy, and forming the Construction Industry Training Board.
