The Department of Justice will conduct a recruitment exercise for Government Counsel in October.

Applicants will need to obtain Level 2 in the Use of English paper and Level 1 in the Use of Chinese paper in the Common Recruitment Examination, or Grade C or above in Use of English in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and Grade D or above in the A-Level Chinese Language & Culture or Chinese Language & Literature exams.

Candidates should also take a Basic Law Test. While not mandatory, the results of the test will be taken into account in considering the suitability of a candidate for appointment.

The next Common Recruitment Examination and Basic Law Test will be held October 2 and 9. Applications for these will be accepted from July 30 to August 12.
