On air: Secretary for Justice Wong Yan Lung discusses the 2012 constitutional reform package on a radio show. |

Secretary for Justice Wong Yan Lung has reiterated the Government's 2012 constitutional reform package will help achieve consensus in deciding the future of Legislative Council functional constituency seats.
Speaking on a radio talk show today Mr Wong urged people to understand the Government's proposals, saying there will be insufficient time to achieve consensus in LegCo on the Alliance for Universal Suffrage's proposals, which demand candidates for the six District Council functional constituency seats be nominated by District Councillors and voted in by the public.
He said the Government's reform package, which proposes the additional five District Council seats be returned via election by District Councillors selected by more than 3.3 million voters, will increase LegCo's democratic elements.
The Government has notified LegCo of its intention to move two motions on the amendments to the methods for selecting the Chief Executive and for forming LegCo in 2012 on June 23.
