269 commended for public service

The Chief Executive has commended 269 people in this year's Honours List. Andrew Li, Dr Henry Hu, Dr Cheng Yu-tung and Dr Chan Sui-kau are Grand Bauhinia Medallists while Police Constable Cheung Wah-yuk has been awarded the Bronze Medal for Bravery.

 

Of the 269 awardees, eight are Gold, 24 Silver and 45 Bronze Bauhinia Star recipients. Nine have been awarded the Distinguished and 47 the Meritorious Service Medal for the disciplined services and the Independent Commission Against Corruption, and 74 the Medal of Honour. Thirty-eight and 19 people have been awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service and for Government-Public Service.

 

The honours recognise their significant contribution to Hong Kong, and their dedicated public and community service. The presentation ceremony will be held in October.

 

Meanwhile, 79 people have been appointed Justices of the Peace, with 53 non-official JPs and 26 official.
