The Home Affairs Department has opened up more channels for people to donate money to help Sichuan quake victims.
In addition to cheque donations at the 18 district offices' 20 public enquiry service centres and post offices, people can also bank-in the cash donations direct into one of the following bank accounts under the name of "The Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated - Donations":
* Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation account 004-502-256803-001; or
* Bank of China (Hong Kong) account 012-875-0-039683-3.
Cheques should be addressed to "The Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated - Donations" or "SHAI - Donations". Tax exemption may be granted to donations of $100 or above.
Receipts issued by the department may be used for tax-exemption purposes. Donors should ask staff of public enquiry service centres for a receipt before they make donations.
For donations made to post offices or HSBC/BOC bank accounts direct, donors must post the original copy of the bank pay-in slip or the receipt issued by post offices, together with a completed receipt requisition form, to the department's Finance Section, 29/F, Southorn Centre, 130 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai.
The receipt requisition form is available here.
