The nomination period for the Kwun Tong District Council Kai Yip Constituency by-election will run March 29 to April 17.

The election has been called to fill the office left vacant by Kwun Tong District Councillor Grace Au who died on January 24. If there is more than one validly nominated candidate, a poll will be held on May 20.

Any registered geographical constituency voters aged 21 or above who have ordinarily lived in Hong Kong for the three years immediately before their nominations may be nominated.

A nominee must have their nomination form subscribed by 10 registered voters of the constituency. Each voter is allowed to subscribe to only one nomination.

Nomination submission

The nominee must personally hand in their completed nomination form, together with an election deposit of $3,000, to the returning officer within the nomination period.

The returning officer's office is located at 3/F Kwun Tong District Branch Offices Building, 6 Tung Yan Street, Kowloon. Nominations are accepted from 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays, and from 9am to noon on Saturdays.

Prospective candidates should submit their nominations as early as possible to have time to rectify any mistakes before the deadline.
