The Chief Executive has appointed Henry Fan as the new Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority Chairperson for a two-year term from March 17.

Announcing the appointment today, Financial Secretary Henry Tang said Mr Fan is a top business and financial leader in Hong Kong, whose rich experience and knowledge in both fields is widely recognised.

"With an exemplary record of public and community services, Mr Fan has the vision, leadership and capability to further the healthy and sustainable development of the Mandatory Provident Fund System in Hong Kong."

Mr Tang expressed thanks to retiring chairperson Charles Lee for his contributions to the authority since its inception in 1998 and laying a robust foundation for its continued development.

Eight incumbent non-executive directors have been reappointed for a further term of two years. They are Leo Kung, Angelina Lee, David Sun, Tam Yiu-chung, Kenneth Ting, Wong Ting-kwong, and the Secretaries for Economic Development & Labour and Financial Services & the Treasury.
