Secretary for Labour & Welfare Dr Law Chi-kwong concluded his Cambodia visit today by visiting a training centre and a medical facility for prospective domestic helpers.
Dr Law met representatives of a non-governmental organisation which provides legal support services for local women and children to discuss the employment of Cambodians as domestic helpers in Hong Kong.
He then visited a training centre and a medical facility for prospective domestic helpers.
Dr Law said the Labour Department has conducted publicity campaigns to raise foreign domestic helpers' awareness on employment rights and benefits.
"The department also hosts a dedicated website on employment of foreign domestic helpers, which contains all publications and publicity videos as well as translated versions of the Standard Employment Contract in foreign domestic helpers' mother languages for public viewing anytime.
"To enable Cambodian nationals who are interested to work in Hong Kong as domestic helpers to understand their labour rights and benefits while working in Hong Kong, the Khmer version has been newly added."
Dr Law also met Cambodia's State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Co-operation Ung Sean.
He said he looks forward to working closely with the Cambodian Consulate General to safeguard the well-being of Cambodian domestic helpers in Hong Kong.
