Degree subsidy to launch

August 04, 2017

The Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong will include eligible full-time self-financing locally-accredited local and non-local undergraduate and top-up degree programmes from 15 institutions for the 2017-18 academic year.

Students will receive a non-means-tested annual subsidy of $30,000 if they are enrolled in the programmes and have met the minimum requirement.

Both new and continuing students meeting the criteria are eligible for the subsidy.

Students in need can apply for financial assistance to cover tuition fees.

The scheme is one of the priority measures announced by the Chief Executive last month to support quality education.

The funding proposal was approved by the Legislative Council on July 19.
