Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung says Choi Yuk-lin was his first choice when considering candidates for the post of Under Secretary for Education.
Speaking to the media together with Ms Choi today, Mr Yeung said his new aide has substantial experience in education, adding he is confident she will help him launch measures to benefit students and teachers.
Asked about the objection to her appointment from some sectors, Ms Choi said she understands the different views on her appointment.
"I know it would be very challenging but I still have the confidence I can communicate and will look forward to different opportunities to have constructive discussion with different stakeholders.
"I understand there are different views on my appointment. I think I will try my best to communicate and talk to those parties."
