The allowances for a youth employment and training scheme will be increased, the Labour Department announced today.
From September 1 the daily allowances for trainees under the Youth Employment & Training Programme will rise from $50 to $70.
The allowances for those who complete the one-month workplace attachment will also rise from $3,000 to $4,500.
Only those with an attendance rate of at least 80% can claim the allowances.
The programme provides one-stop comprehensive pre-employment and on-the-job training for young school leavers aged 15 to 24 with sub-degree or lower qualifications.
