Education sector backs upgrades

(July 06, 2017)

The Government's new measures to enhance education quality and address resource issues are generally supported by the education sector.

Speaking to the media after attending a radio programme today, Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung said the Chief Executive met with different stakeholders in the education sector and listened to their views.

Studying the feedback, the Government came up with its package of measures which generally represent the consensus among stakeholders on priority areas.

It will consult legislators on the issue next week and then seek funding approval.

Mr Yeung noted he will also explain the new measures to legislators to seek their support.

He is confident funding approval can be obtained before the close of the Legislative Council term, he added.
