Disabled staff subsidy scheme to open

March 12, 2017

A Social Welfare Department subsidy scheme to improve the workplace environment of disabled employees will open for applications tomorrow.

Open to employers, the Support Programme for Employees with Disabilities was launched in 2013 to give a one-off subsidy of up to $20,000 for each disabled employee for workplace modifications or assistive equipment procurement.

A grant of up to $40,000 can be considered for special cases.

The scheme aims to boost the work efficiency of the disabled.

The subsidy can be used on a wide range of assistive equipment and workplace modifications, including optical magnifying devices, Braille products, hearing aids, computer accessories for the disabled and the construction of handrails.

The application deadline is April 21. No application fee is required and each applicant can submit more than one application.
