Micro-movie:  Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung officiates at the premiere of the Seize the Second.

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung today officiated at the premiere of a micro movie based on the encouraging real-life stories of Youth Employment & Training Programme trainees.

Seize the Second, presented by the Labour Department and Radio Television Hong Kong, is performed by artists and singers, programme trainees as well as disc jockeys and Solar Ambassadors of RTHK.

The trainees featured in the movie found their career direction after joining the Youth Employment & Training Programme 's on-the-job training.

With encouragement and guidance from their employers, case managers and training bodies, their perseverance has enabled them to make a steady progress in their career path.

Mr Cheung encouraged young people to join the programme, which provides one-stop and diverse training and employment support services through the concerted efforts of employers, training bodies and the Government.

Nearly 220,000 youngsters have benefitted from the programme since its inception, with a successful placement rate of 70%, he said.

Free enrolment is open year-round to young school leavers aged 15 to 24 with educational attainment at sub-degree level or below.
