Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam launched the Work Experience Movement, organised by the Education Bureau, at the Science Park today.
The signature event of the bureau’s Business-School Partnership Programme, the movement mobilises commercial and community organisations to provide work experience programmes for secondary school students.
More than 200 organisations have pledged to join the movement, offering job opportunities in the hotel and tourism, surveying, and innovation and technology sectors.
Work experience allows students to familiarise themselves with all walks of life and prepare themselves for the job market.
Mrs Lam said the Government has attached great importance to the diversified development of young people.
The scheme subsidises young people to join overseas exchange and internship programmes, and encourages them to explore their interests and aspirations outside the classroom, preparing them for serving the community in the future.
She encouraged students to broaden their horizons and explore new ideas so they can seize different opportunities in the changing economic and social environment.
