The term of office of the Standard Working Hours Committee will be extended two months to allow more time for studying the opinion of the labour sector before compiling a final report.
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung told reporters today the Labour Advisory Board and legislators representing the labour constituency presented to the Chief Executive this morning their consultation report based on opinion surveys among all labour unions on standard working hours.
Because of this new development, the committee’s term, originally set to end at the end of this month, will be extended until the end of January.
He urged labour sector representatives to return to the committee as it is very important for all sides to sit together and look at the recommendations carefully to reach a consensus on the way forward.
