Chief Secretary Carrie Lam officiated at the presentation ceremony of the 2015-16 Family-Friendly Employers Award Scheme today.
Organised by the Family Council with support from the Home Affairs Bureau, the event commended more than 2,500 corporations, enterprises and organisations as Family-Friendly Employers, while 39 government bureaus and departments received Awards for Breastfeeding Support.
Mrs Lam said families are the pillar of society, the driving force behind people's hard work and their shelter in difficult times.
She said family-friendly practices do not necessarily bring substantial additional costs to employers.
The common features of these practices are "people-oriented" and address employees' needs, enabling them to take good care of their families without having any worries.
In this way they can be more devoted to their work and also help to enhance the productivity of their companies, she added.
