Programmes subsidy to launch

August 17, 2016

The Government will subsidise 1,062 students to pursue full-time local self-financing undergraduate programmes in selected disciplines in the 2017-18 academic year, to nurture talent to meet human resources demand and diversify study opportunities.

Healthcare, architecture and engineering, testing and certification, the creative industry, logistics, and tourism and hospitality - which have an urgent demand for talent - will be covered by the scheme.

The scheme will provide 32 more places compared with last year, including 20 medical laboratory science degree and 12 radiation therapy degree places.

Subsidised allocation will mainly go through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System to ensure students are selected on the basis of merit.

Students will receive up to $70,000 in subsidies during their chosen programmes, which will run from four to five years.
