The Hong Kong-Canada Working Holiday Scheme's 2016 quota will be increased from 200 to 300.
Welcoming the move today, Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung noted the scheme has been well-received by young people. More than 1,200 Hong Kong youths and 400 Canadian young people have participated in the scheme.
He said the Government will continue to review the applications received with Canadian authorities and explore increasing the future annual quota if necessary.
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Passport or British National (Overseas) Passport holders aged 18 to 30 can apply for a visa under the scheme.
Successful applicants can stay in Canada for up to a year during which they can take up short-term employment and engage in a study course of up to six months.
