Secretary for Education Eddie Ng witnessed a ceremony marking the pairing up of four Hong Kong secondary schools and three primary schools with their counterparts in Nansha today.
The seven schools have joined the Guangdong-Hong Kong Sister School Scheme, launched in 2005 to boost co-operation among schools in both places.
Since the scheme's launch, the number of sister school pairs has reached 334 including today's pairings.
Participating schools can arrange different exchange activities with their counterparts to facilitate educational and cultural interflows, enhance teachers' professionalism and broaden students' horizons.
Mr Ng will also visit Fok Ying Tung High School, a whole-day boarding school in Nansha which has for years been running exchange activities with a number of schools in Hong Kong, Europe and the United States.
