Secretary for Education Eddie Ng has ordered an investigation into today's roof collapse at City University.
The roof of Chan Tai Ho Multi-Purpose Hall in the Hu Fa Kuang Sports Centre collapsed about 2.30pm, injuring two men and a woman.
The Buildings Department has launched an investigation into the collapse. A preliminary check by its engineers found the building's basic structure has not been affected by the incident.
Mr Ng spoke to the media after inspecting the site, noting that he is very concerned about the incident.
He ordered the university to look into the incident and check other buildings to ensure the safety of students and staff.
"I demand the university management provide a very detailed, comprehensive and urgent investigation. I recognise that the management of the university has taken the initiative already in the formation of a three-man investigation committee to look into the subject. I expect a report as soon as possible, preferably within two weeks."
