The Government today announced the appointment of Norman Leung as Chinese University of Hong Kong Council Chairman for a three-year term starting May 1.
Secretary for Education Eddie Ng noted Mr Leung's wealth of experience in the education sector and his roles as City University Council Chairman and a University Grants Committee member.
"I am confident that Mr Leung will lead CUHK to pursue excellence and scale new heights," he said.
Mr Ng also praised former chairman Vincent Cheng's contribution over the years to the university's sustainable development.
Under his leadership, CUHK further consolidated its position as one of the world's top-notch universities, continued to excel in both teaching and research, and took forward such major projects as the development of a teaching hospital, making remarkable achievements on various fronts, he added.
