Secretary for Education Eddie Ng today attended the Guangdong-Hong Kong University Presidents' Forum at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou.
He was accompanied by the presidents or vice-presidents of the eight University Grants Committee-funded institutions to explore further collaboration and exchange opportunities between higher education institutions in the two places.
Speaking at the forum, Mr Ng noted its themes of "Establishing Guangdong-Hong Kong Higher Education Institution Alliance for High Quality Universities", "Co-operation & Exchanges for Talent Nurturing" and "Industrial, Academic & Research Collaborative Innovation & Industry Partnership", which he said are closely related to the co-operation between the higher education institutions in the two places.
Both sides agreed to follow up on the modes of co-operation and to open up for students more opportunities for exchange, research, innovation and business start-ups.
The Hong Kong delegation then visited the National Supercomputer Centre at Guangzhou University City and the Nansha free trade zone.
