The Education Bureau has announced the appointment of Alex Chan as Chairman of the Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications for two years from October 1.
Mr Chan has served as a member of the council since 2009, and took up the post of vice-chairman in 2011.
Roger Best was appointed the vice-chairman.
Seven new members were appointed and seven serving members were reappointed.
Secretary for Education Eddie Ng said he is confident Mr Chan will provide able leadership for the council and contribute to the development of the quality assurance mechanism and the implementation of the qualifications framework in Hong Kong.
Mr Ng also thanked outgoing chairman Martin Liao for his contributions to the council with his insightful counsel and strong leadership for 16 years.
