Sept 3 holiday bill passed

July 09, 2015

The Legislative Council today passed a bill to designate September 3, 2015, as a one-off special holiday.

The Government made the proposal to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression.

The bill will be gazetted on July 17.

The Labour Department said employers should arrange for their employees to take leave on that day. Those who have been employed under a continuous contract for three months or more will be entitled to holiday pay.
