Secretary for Education Eddie Ng says many schools and teachers have welcomed the Territory-wide System Assessment, as it will not individually assess the performance of students and schools.
Speaking to the media today, Mr Ng said it is a citywide basic learning assessment to improve learning and teaching in schools.
There is no more competition between schools after the Education Bureau stopped disclosing the score cards of schools in April last year.
He said students need not be pressured by the assessment.
