Secretary for Education Eddie Ng said the schooling arrangement for "Wai Chai", a 12-year-old boy who reportedly has overstayed in Hong Kong for nine years, will be handled according to established procedures.

Mr Ng told reporters today that the Education Bureau has already been in touch with the concerned departments and school principal, to assess whether the boy met the criteria for schooling.

He said he regretted that some people had behaved aggressively in protesting outside the school, and he called on people to voice their opinions peacefully and lawfully.
