Thirty-six secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens were commended today at the prize presentation ceremony of the Greening School Project Award in recognition of their contributions towards a greener environment.
The Leisure & Cultural Services Department provides subsidies to schools to organise greening activities and encourage students to plant more trees and shrubs on campuses under the Greening School Subsidy Scheme.
Teachers and students have embraced the scheme since its launch in 2000, with the number of participating schools increasing from around 300 in the first year to more than 850 this year.
