Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam today expressed her sadness at the passing of Yeung Kwong, the former President of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions.
"Over the years, Mr Yeung made outstanding contribution to the labour movement and labour welfare in Hong Kong. He dedicated himself to community service and was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2001,” she said.
She extended her deepest condolences to his family on behalf of the Hong Kong Government, as did Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung.
"Mr Yeung was very dedicated in safeguarding labour rights and promoting the welfare of the grassroots during his tenure," Mr Cheung said, adding he had made a significant contribution in this respect.
