Eddie Ng attends teaching summit

Education exchange:  Eddie Ng (second right) led a Hong Kong delegation to attend the International Summit on the Teaching Profession 2015 in Canada. 

Secretary for Education Eddie Ng has led a delegation to attend the International Summit on the Teaching Profession 2015 in Canada.

 

Canada’s Council of Ministers of Education, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development and other partners are holding the three-day event, with ‘Implementing Highly Effective Teacher Policy & Practice’ as its theme.

 

It was attended by education ministers and leaders of teachers' unions from countries and regions with high-performing or rapidly improving education systems.

 

Mr Ng has met with Canadian education officials, including British Columbia’s Minister of Education Peter Fassbender and Alberta’s Minister of Education Gordon Dirks.

 

Mr Ng has also met with the OECD’s Deputy Secretary-General Stefan Kapferer and the organisation’s Director of the Directorate for Education & Skills Andreas Schleicher to discuss its student assessment programme.
