Eddie Ng to attend teaching summit

March 26, 2015

Secretary for Education Eddie Ng will tomorrow lead a delegation to Canada to attend the International Summit on the Teaching Profession 2015 in Banff, Alberta.

The summit is jointly held by the Council of Ministers of Education of Canada, The Learning Partnership, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development, and Education International.

It will bring together education ministers and leaders of teachers' unions from countries and regions with high-performing or rapidly improving education systems to discuss key issues in education policy and practice.

Before the summit there will be seminars on issues such as pre-service teaching programmes in post-secondary education, information technology in the classroom, and early childhood education.

Mr Ng will meet with education ministers from Canada and around the world.

He will also visit the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver to meet with the respective presidents and some Hong Kong students studying at the universities.

The delegation will return to Hong Kong on April 1. Under Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung will be the Acting Secretary for Education in Mr Ng's absence.
