The Labour Department's investigation into alleged wage arrears by ATV is largely complete and it is liaising with the Department of Justice on implementing prosecution action against the broadcaster and its management.
The department issued the statement today in response to media enquiries about the broadcaster's alleged breaches of the Employment Ordinance.
It said it has laid 76 summonses against ATV.
Labour officers visited ATV employees seven times before prosecution action was taken, during which they took surveillance actions, interviewed the management and employees, took evidence and inspected wage payment and employment records.
Thereafter officers took surveillance and evidence collecting actions 12 times.
The department said it is unacceptable for ATV to breach the Employment Ordinance continuously in such a blatant manner.
The department will help affected employees seek compensation.
