Working hours task force set

January 23, 2015

The Standard Working Hours Committee has agreed to set up a task force to further discuss the issue of regulating working hours following the results of a public consultation and a dedicated working hours survey.

Speaking after the body's meeting today, chairperson Dr Leong Che-hung said the consultation and survey carried out last year provided the committee with useful information on the latest working hours situation and the community's views on the issue, adding that establishing a task force will help the committee submit more detailed recommendations to the Government.

Dr Leong said the committee agreed on the need to regulate working hours and that he would make sure it submits a policy recommendation to the Government before its term ends in March 2016.

He welcomed two new members, employee representative Wong Siu-han and employer representative Cheung Sing-hung to the committee.

Dr Leong also thanked the three outgoing members, employee representatives Lee Tak-ming, the late Chung Kwok-sing and employer representative Thomas Ho for their contributions.
