Lifelong learning:  Eddie Ng officiates at the Qualifications Framework Partnerships Commendation Ceremony.

Secretary for Education Eddie Ng has presented certificates of commendation to over 140 organisations for their support and contributions to the Qualifications Framework.

Speaking at the Qualifications Framework Partnerships Commendation Ceremony today, Mr Ng said the Education Bureau is launching a pilot project to design a set of operation guidelines for credit accumulation and transfer to promote seamless articulation between different qualifications.

The bureau is also encouraging training institutions to plan and develop their curriculums more thoroughly to improve co-ordination and co-operation among institutions and different sectors, he added.

Twenty industries, which cover 48% of the total labour force, have set up their Industry Training Advisory Committees so far.

More than 8,000 qualifications and their respective courses have been recognised.

Almost 12,000 practitioners have obtained over 20,000 statements of attainment.

Mr Ng said the bureau will promote the Qualification Framework among different sectors and assist more organisations in joining the framework.

The Qualification Framework is a seven-level hierarchy covering qualifications in the academic, vocational, continuing education and training sectors to provide a transparent and easily assessable platform to promote lifelong learning and enhance the capability and competitiveness of the local workforce.
