Collaboration conference:  Secretary for Education Eddie Ng (third left) and European Commission Head of Sector of Skills & Qualifications Recognition Tools Koen Nomden (second left) attend the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Conference.

The Education Bureau today hosted the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Conference.

In his welcoming address, Secretary for Education Eddie Ng said the conference marks a key milestone for the internalisation of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework.

It also signifies the start of Hong Kong’s collaboration with the European Commission on the technical alignment between the Hong Kong and European frameworks.

The technical alignment will provide a translation device to understand the corresponding levels of qualifications between the qualifications frameworks of the two places, he said.

A report on the comparability of levels of the two frameworks will be submitted to the European Commission.

Mr Ng said the collaboration will enhance learners' mobility and articulation between the two regions.

Deputy Secretary for Education Brian Lo and the EC’s Head of Sector of Skills & Qualifications Recognition Tools Koen Nomden were the two keynote speakers at the conference.

Other speakers included local academics and overseas experts from European Union member states, including Croatia, Ireland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Poland and the UK, plus New Zealand.

More than 300 local and overseas participants attended.
