Twenty-four Tai Lam Correctional Institution inmates were given certificates today for completing vocational courses on bar bending and fixing, and crane and forklift truck operation.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Construction Industry Council Director Leung Wai-hung said job opportunities are important for inmates' reintegration into the community.
He also praised the Correctional Services Department for collaborating with training agencies in providing market-oriented vocational training to enhance inmates’ employment opportunities and train up new entrants for the industries.
The department offers more than 30 vocational training courses covering construction, engineering, catering, retail, commercial, tourism, beauty, logistics, laundry services, information technology, environmental services, healthcare and transport.
