School site allocation opens

October 24, 2014

Applications for new secondary and primary school premises are now being accepted, the Education Bureau announced today.

Under the Reprovisioning & Redevelopment Programme, the Government aims to provide better facilities to schools that are rundown, too old or running out of space.

In this round of applications, there is one secondary school site and one primary school site available in Kwun Tong, and one primary school premises in Sham Shui Po. All have 30 classrooms.

To assess a school's eligibility for a site, its quality of education will be the prime consideration, as well as its operational track record, its plans after relocation and the condition of the school's existing premises.

In general, schools with a site area of less than 3,000 square metres and premises that are more than 30 years old will be considered.

Another criteria will be the location of the applicant schools and whether they are in the same district as the new premises.

The successful applicant must surrender its existing school site to the Government in accordance with the lease conditions upon relocation.

Applicants can send their forms to the bureau's Infrastructure & Research Division at 6/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar by 5pm on November 24.
