The revised mechanism for Primary One admission this year has given cross-boundary students more admission choices from schools in different districts.
Secretary for Education Eddie Ng made the statement today after visiting a Yuen Long primary school to launch the new school year.
He said many primary schools in Yuen Long, North District and Tuen Mun have allowed for more cross-boundary admissions, easing pressure on any single district.
He said the mechanism will be enhanced according to its effectiveness in the first stage.
On the threat of class boycotts, Mr Ng said he does not support student striking and has seen no interruption to class schedules so far.
